A Simple Birthday Gift for the Classroom (That Kids Actually Love)”

I didn’t want to send my Bloom to school with something that would get tossed aside five minutes later.

You know the kind.

The goodie bags that are cute in theory… but end up forgotten, broken, or half-used by the end of the day.

And if I’m being honest… I also didn’t want to do cupcakes this year.

It’s just a lot of sugar. And while I’m not the mom that’s like “no sugar ever”… I do try to be mindful of how much my Bloom is having throughout the day.

I don’t even know if what I made is that much better… but I liked the idea that parents and teachers could at least have a little more control over what their child actually eats and when.

So like most of us do…

I went to Pinterest 😅

Looking for something simple. Something fun. Something I could actually pull off without overthinking it.

And this is what we landed on.

A “pencil” snack mix.

It was fun, easy, and something the kids could actually enjoy putting together too.

Here’s what we used:

✨ Raisins (for the tip of the pencil)

✨ Popcorn

✨ Goldfish

✨ A couple of Hershey kisses

✨ One small bag of fruit snacks (kept packaged)

You can really make this your own.

I’ve seen people use chocolate chips instead of raisins for the tip, which is super cute. I just chose raisins to keep the sugar a little lower.

And instead of mixing everything in one big pile, I liked separating the fruit snacks.

That way, it could be eaten later… or not at all… depending on what each parent is comfortable with.

Because again, it’s not about removing the fun.

It’s just about being a little more intentional.

And honestly? It didn’t need to be complicated.

✨ A small activity that keeps little hands busy

✨ Something they could take home and use again

✨ A little treat, because… balance

Nothing over the top. Nothing overwhelming.

Just a thoughtful mix of fun and function.

Because I’ve realized something:

Kids don’t need more stuff. They just need things that invite them to do something.

To create. To play. To think. To enjoy the moment a little longer.

And as a mom, I also wanted it to feel manageable.

Not something that takes hours to put together. Not something that costs more than it should. Not something that adds stress to an already full week.

Just simple.

Because that’s the kind of life I’m building.

And truthfully…

those are the kinds of moments that tend to stick the most.

And I love that this is something you can use beyond birthdays too.

End of the year gifts .Class celebrations. Even just a fun afternoon activity with your Bloom.

Simple. Intentional. Still fun.
